Brent Payne

I decided to give CrossFit a try after 10 years of trying and failing to get back in shape. I had done home workouts, been to other gyms, and tried various diet programs. Nothing ever stuck. When I tried GoodLife, I was immediately drawn to the coaching, community, and the never ending opportunity to improve. Good Life is awesome in so many ways, but one thing that stands out is how Ashley & Miranda set their athletes up for long term success.

For the first year I was at Good Life, I worked hard and made some big improvements, losing about 25 lbs. Then I decided to go all in by joining a six week challenge at the end of 2021, which included nutritional coaching. That challenge produced huge results, like dropping another 20 lbs and allowing me to feel & perform better than I had in a decade. The nutritional coaching element helped me to understand how to better fuel my body for the workouts we do, and it taught me how to have a healthy relationship with food for the first time. I was performing better in the gym and my mood overall was much improved.

With amazing coaches & community, I can’t wait to continue to realize my potential, as well as the potential of all the folks around me. I’m able to keep up with my young children while setting a good example for health & fitness in their lives. It means so much to our family that Good Life isn’t only invested in my health, but of that of my whole family!

I began CrossFit because of my internal health. As early as my mid-twenties, I was experiencing high blood pressure. I was advised to seek regular physical activity, and I found CrossFit. Not only has my internal health dramatically improved, but I’m stronger and fitter than I have ever been in my life. CrossFit’s structure has helped me maintain this sport since 2012 – class times, varying workouts, and the ability to repeat and measure. CrossFit Good Life brought me additional attention to my diet, and provides a safe environment to continue enjoying this sport and all the health improvements it has brought me.

When I saw this picture of me taken three years ago I knew I had to get back into shape.  I was the heaviest I have ever been at 165 lbs and I just felt terrible about myself.  I had done CrossFit briefly in 2012 and I thought that was something I would enjoy doing again so I made the decision to make myself and my health a priority again.  At times I remember thinking I am just not making progress fast enough, or I would think I’ll never be able to do most of the movements in the workouts, it was frustrating.  But I stuck with it, I stayed positive and did my best, I got stronger, I got more confident and while I still have a long way to go I am happy with my progress and am looking forward to more gains and making myself as healthy as I can be, not just for me but for the people I love.
